Tjerk Opmeer

Tjerk Opmeer is Director for Innovation and Knowledge and Deputy Director-General for Business and Innovation at the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy. In this role he leads the development and coordination of Dutch innovation and knowledge policy, including contributions to national and European strategies that advance science, technology and space-related research and applications. He also participates in shaping the Netherlands’ long-term space agenda and represents the ministry in space policy discussions alongside stakeholders from government, industry and international partners. Prior to this, Opmeer served as Director of International Programmes at the Netherlands Enterprise Agency and has held senior policy roles across Dutch ministries, with broad experience in innovation, international economic affairs and public-private collaboration.
